Pregnancy, just like natural childbirth is untouchable in its’ magnificence, but not because it is all easy, fluffy and filled with fun times and sunshine.

But because it is powerful! It will lift you high, up into the light of the divine, but in doing so it will shake the very foundation that you stand on, often causing you to lose your footing and plunge into the dark hours of the soul.

During these dark times we can find ourselves feeling very much alone, scrambling to catch our breath in what seems to be a tsunami of emotion and tears.

In this article I am going to share with you why it is that we go through these hard times, why it is not necessarily a bad thing, and how it can actually serve you in the journey towards a great natural childbirth!

Trusting Natures Divine Path to Natural Childbirth

You having been called to grow this life and bring it into the world through natural childbirth is no mistake! This is the most important thing you will ever do.

You have been called to open the gate for your baby to transition through the divine light of love, a majestic welcome for a soul so deserving!

As with any true assignment of the soul, you will be perfectly guided in the journey and completion of this act. Your job is to simply allow and trust that nature has its specific order and purpose, and even if it doesn’t seem like it at the time it is always leading you on the perfect path.

Preparing for Natural Childbirth- Emotional Clearing

Nature’s first order of business is to clear the pathway of any gunk that has built up over your life time that could possibly get in the way of natural childbirth.

This is often the hardest part, and the most important. It works by going deeply inside of you seeking out all negative energies and emotions that have been stored, activating them, bringing them to surface and then clearing them out. This happens naturally without your permission or consent, it makes no difference whether it is inconvenient for you, or whether it is hard or causes you pain. It does it because it is a vital and necessary part in preparing you for natural childbirth!

Why Hard Times are Essential to Having an Easy Natural Childbirth

Nature is not punishing you; it is preparing you for natural childbirth.

In a natural childbirth when a problem arises it is almost always a result of the Mothers state of mind and emotion during the time of birth. If she has not let go of old harmful emotions and thought patterns prior to her birthing time, it will come up during birth in some form of complication.

So instead of dealing with emotional issues at the time of birth, nature encourages them to be activated, dealt with and cleared out during your pregnancy. This is the preparation stage.

At one point or another in your journey towards natural childbirth you will go through times that will not only challenge you, but will shake you to the core and leave you collapsed on floor in tears. Sounds fun I know! But we’ve all been there before and will all be there again.

Nature intentionally puts you through these hard times. It is working perfectly as planned, presenting you with exactly what you need to rid yourself of anything and everything that does not serve you.

Releasing That Which Does Not Serve You

Often times this release does not come easy, it happens with you kicking and screaming, not quite ready to let go of all that pain. It may seem easier to just want to tuck it away again, where it was safe and forgotten about.

But it is Gods will that you release these things and rid yourself of all obstacles that veil your light, only then can you begin to fulfill your purpose.

Only through awakening the pain that is buried within you can you excommunicate it and bring it to the light.

Losing Control and Letting it Go

As women one of the most difficult lessons for us to learn is to allow ourselves to release that control and just let it go.

We have a tendency to cling onto our emotions, holding them inside not letting them go, until they come to a boiling point and we can’t take it anymore, then there’s no stopping them! This is when we say, “I am freaking out! I feel like I’m losing it!”

But our problem is not that we’ve lost control over our emotions; it is that we didn’t let that control go. The reason why sometimes we act out in such extremities when we are emotional is because we are in conflict with what is. We are upset that we are having these emotions. We can’t just accept them and allow them to come, we try to fight them, to struggle against them, and unconsciously creating more conflict and more tension until finally they explode.

Stop Judging Your Emotions and Just Let Them to Be

Do not judge. And do not fight your emotions. It is important to feel them, to allow them to surface, and to let them go freely without any feelings of guilt or shame associated with it.

If you are on the floor crying, accept that that it is where you’re at right now, realizing that it is a necessary release to clear out old emotions to make space for new truths.

When you feel like you are breaking down, allow it happen, without judgment and without trying to control it. Just accept it as part of the process and allow it to happen.

This may be one of the biggest lessons we are given that prepares us for natural childbirth, learning to surrender control, to accept what is taking place without judging it.

Lessons of Natural Childbirth- The Calm and the Storm

We must accept and embrace the difficult times as fully as we accept the easy times. This is a fundamental part of natural childbirth.

Having a natural childbirth is not all effort and it is not all rest. It is the perfect balance between the two. Contractions are the storm, the challenge, and the rest in between contractions is the calm, the ease.

Of course when a contraction comes on it is not easy, it is a challenge to stay centered in the midst of all that pressure. But it is what it is. It makes no since to fight it, the only thing that will do is cause it to be painful and harder than it has to be. This is the process, it is necessary and it has its purpose. This is what is moving your baby closer to being born.

When you are in the act of natural childbirth you are participating in something that is infinitely larger than you and beyond your control.

So there is nothing to do, except relinquish control. Your judgment and your attempts to fight against what is taking place will quickly prove to be futile. There is nothing to be done except to trust the process. All you have to do is simply allow.

You also know that nothing is permanent, and that each period of intensity will be followed by a period of rest. It is like the waves of an ocean billowing powerfully in, and then receding peacefully out. This is the beautiful cycle of natural childbirth.

Lessons of Pregnancy – Embracing the Tides of Your Emotions

Everything that happens during pregnancy is connected with the lessons of birth.

The same lesson is true for when you are experiencing the emotional cycles of your pregnancy. You will experience both the calm and the storm. And it makes no since to struggle, or to fight against it, it is necessary and purposeful. It is the natural process of preparing you for natural childbirth. The pain is simply the act of clearing the emotional and spiritual path for your baby’s arrival.

It is bigger than you and beyond your control, and so there is nothing to do except to surrender that control. Simply accept the process, trusting and knowing that it is nature’s divine plan at work. And that the pain will pass. And when all the darkness that has been weighing you down has been lifted you will be set free from fear!

In the absence of fear you open the space for love to guide you and your baby through the divine natural childbirth that is rightfully yours.

For us natural childbirth is a defining moment in our lives. It is said that during birth we truly meet ourselves and for the first time we are given the chance to allow our greatest potential to be fulfilled.

But this is not a journey we travel alone, and as grand as it is for us, just think about what an enormous and defining experience birth is for your Baby!

With all of the nervousness, excitement and anticipation it’s easy for us to get caught up in our own heads with our own agendas about our birth and we sometimes forget that we are merely here for the ride, and that this whole show is being put on for our Baby.

This is our child’s birth and it matters more than we can ever imagine! It is his first step in his new land. This experience teaches and imprints the child deeply.

We should put careful thought into what we want our children to learn from this experience, and what imprint we wish to leave with them. This is not something to be taken lightly, this event will set the foundation for the rest of their lives.

In this article we will explore childbirth from your baby’s perception and discover what natural childbirth means to your baby.

Challenging Society’s Beliefs About Awareness in the Newborn

There seems to be a harmful misconception in our society that newborn babies just aren’t quite full human beings yet, that because they are small, and they don’t talk, they don’t see, hear or move like we do that they must not be capable of experiencing the full range of emotions yet either.

Many may argue that this is not true, that of course we recognize babies as being human!

But if this is so then why would we possibly allow our babies to be treated with such carelessness, disregard and even violence upon their first entrance into the world?

Birth Trauma

This is a video that I don’t like watching, but it is important to be realized. To the medical professionals delivering these babies it’s just another day at the office. But for these poor babies it is a traumatic beginning that will be forever imprinted as their first experience and impression of this world.

Not all hospital births are this extreme, however they are definitely not ideal.

“Why must a child emerge from the quiet darkness of the womb into a blaze of blinding light and loud voices? Why must an infant take its first breath in terror, hanging upside down as its vulnerable spine is jerked straight? Why must the infant be separated from its mother after spending nine months inside her nourishing body?”

~Frederick Leboyer

In an attempt to understand birth from a babies perspective I am going to tell the story of birth and I want you for a moment to imagine that you are the baby, and that this is your birth.

The Average ”Un” Natural Childbirth - The Baby’s Story

Imagine, you are safe, warm and cozy in the womb, surrounded by the familiar comfort of your Mother. Then suddenly your world is pressing in on you from all directions, you hear your Mom screaming and yelling, you feel her fear and it causes you to clinch with fright.

You are then drugged, you can’t think straight, you are scared and you don’t know what’s going on, you think this must be the end, that you must be dying. You are then forced down into a dark tunnel, and you hear strange voices shouting PUSH PUSH!!!

Then suddenly, you come out into a strange room, with these bright blinding lights and weird machines beeping. It’s filled with strange people. Your cold and scared, and the light makes it hard for you to open your eyes. Your groggy and disoriented from the drugs. People are shouting all around you, “It’s a BOY, it’s a GIRL! There loud voices pound through your fragile eardrums. And you are being carelessly clutched in the gloved hands of a strange man wearing a mask.

You look around for something familiar, something to explain what is happening to you!

You hear your Moms voice and want to go to her. But instead you are surrounded by strangers who roughly dry you off, then proceed to shove things in your mouth, poke you with needles and run tests on you.

You are crying and screaming profusely but no one seems to take notice or care, they are too busy congratulating themselves for a job well done.

If your lucky you get to meet your Mom for a moment before being whisked away down the hall and into a room with a bunch of other babies like you, who are scared and crying for the love of their Mothers, but she is no where to be found.

“Oh my God, is this what the world is like?”

What Kind of Message is That Sending to Your Baby?

I can’t imagine it sending the message that it is welcomed and accepted, that it will always be loved and kept safe. Rather I imagine it being a terrifying experience, that would make me just want to crawl back inside of myself and hide.

How can we raise confident children when with their first experience we strip them of their dignity?

Imagine The Alternative - A Sacred, Respected and Natural Childbirth

Your Mom feels her birthing sensations begin, she takes a deep breath and fills herself with the most peaceful and calm feeling imaginable. She lights some candles, turns on soothing music, or takes a warm bath. She talks to you and lets you know that everything is ok, not to fear, you’re birth will be a sacred event that you will journey through together in trust, faith and love, and that you will be born into a peaceful and loving home.

The birthing space is being held by the select few who your Mother has chosen to be with her, they are there bringing her comfort, making her feel safe and loved. They are there to honor her and to honor you.

As the natural child birth progresses your Mother does not allow herself to be swept away by fear, rather she soars into greatness and awakens to an inner strength that introduces her to her full exquisite and powerful self.

She embraces the power of her body, and for a moment in time feels connected with the ancestral wisdom of every woman that has gone before her. She is releasing, opening and allowing her body to lead her.

The walls of your world are tightening all around you, you are nervous and not quite sure what is going on, but then you feel the soothing and calm vibrations that she’s sending your way. You feel her love emanating through you and all around you. You take the leap into the unknown, release and let go!

You ease gently out into a dimly lit room, it is filled with peaceful and loving vibrations. No one is running around, or shouting. It is as if you are entering a holy temple, the space is respected, voices are hushed and peace fills the room.

You are surrounded by the gentle warmth of water or of a cozy room.

You are guided into life and welcomed for the first time into the loving hands of your Father. What an amazing introduction! But still you yearn for your Mother, your only true source of familiarity and comfort.

You hears your Mommas voice, look around and there she is, gazing at you with the warmest smile. You are placed in her arms, you feel welcomed, safe and loved.

Your Mother instinctively offers you her bosom, you yearn for that connection and happily latch on. You are wrapped snugly in her arms surrounded by her love. Your belly is filled with the sweetness of your Mommas milk.

You feel loved and safe, and so curious as to where you are. You are very alert and spend the next few hours looking around bright eyed and curious before drifting comfortably off to sleep. You have entered your new kingdom in peace, you are home.

The other night a guy friend of mine who saw the content of my Facebook page asked me, “so what’s the big deal with all these women and natural childbirth? And why do they feel the need to constantly talk about their birth and to get people to watch their birth videos and stuff?” My first reaction was to say, “You won’t get it, it’s a girl thing and it’s WAY too big of a topic to even get into.”

But then it occurred to me how little the average person knows about the current state of birth in our country. And that the only way to change that is to make it common knowledge and the only way to do that is to speak up and spread the word!

The truth remains that in our society most of us are either uninformed or misinformed. And most of what we think we know has been implanted into us not for the safety and well being of ourselves and our babies but for the monetary gain of the HCA (Hospital Corporations of America) one of the richest and most fraudulent corporations of all time.

I can’t keep quiet any more, this information is too important not to be shared. Women deserve to be given all of the information, only then can they be expected to make truly informed decisions.

Only when women are acting from a place of knowledge and not from fear will we have a real chance to reclaim birth as the sacred and empowering journey that it is meant to be and not as the dire medical emergency that is leaving millions of Mommas traumatized.

We Choose Natural Childbirth Because We Know the Facts

FACT #1- The Current Medically Engineered System of Birth Is Failing Us

In our country we treat birth as if it’s a medical emergency. Instead of allowing normal birth to follow it’s natural process doctors are interfering and are taking over with their own man made technology centered system of birth. As if they can somehow do a better job than nature. These methods are highly intrusive and dangerous. Over half of the women who give birth in the hospitals are leaving feeling abused, mistreated and traumatized. This system is failing us in a BIG way!

The United States lags behind most other industrialized and even some developing countries in maternal mortality, currently ranking 50th out of 171 countries

Our current C-section rate is 33% and rising

We Choose Natural Childbirth because it is Our Bodies, Our Babies, Our Experience and Our Choice

FACT #2- “Birth Rape” is Real and It’s Common

Since I have dove into this birth world I cannot believe the stories that I’m hearing every day. We’re seeing our fellow women, our sisters, and our friends going into the hospital to have their babies and coming out completely traumatized by what went on!

They say that they were manipulated by the hospital system and bullied into accepting unnecessary interventions and even c-sections without sound medical reason. The feelings some women have about their negative experiences are overwhelming. Many are claiming birth abuse, and some would even go as far as to say birth “rape” especially if they had instruments placed inside them without their consent.

This (rape) can include having Q-tips, speculums, scissors, forceps, vacuums, fingers, hands, and other objects inserted into a woman’s vagina or being given an enema, IV, epidural, or C-section without their consent.

Having one’s water broken without consent is another example of doctor’s taking control, which is basically what rape is all about. Being coerced, manipulated or deceived so that one will be obedient and go along with these treatments is another form of birth rape. Some even consider making rude and discouraging remarks to influence the mother rather than empower her to be included in the definition. Moving a mother into certain positions without asking and telling her what to do are further examples of mistreatment.

Some deny the existence of birth trauma in mothers or believe that they or exaggerating, especially being that misconduct is rarely reported.

Some 54% of women in one study had grounds for a complaint but did not file.

We Choose Natural Childbirth Because We Will Not Allow Ourselves to be Operated on For Profit

FACT #3- Despite the Poor Quality of Care, Business is Booming & Profits Soar for the HCA (Hospital Corporation of America)

One of the largest hospital operators is a gigantic corporation called the HCA (Hospital Corporation of America) it is one of the most profitable and corrupt multi-billion dollar corporations of all time.

Before you decide to hire them to be in charge of one the most important and monumental experiences of your life, the birth of your child there are a few things that you should know about them.

The HCA has been investigated by the FBI, the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Health and Human Services who served search warrants at Columbia/HCA facilities and on dozens of doctors with suspected ties to the company. Following the raids, the Columbia/HCA board of directors forced Rick Scott to resign as Chairman and CEO. Who despite his wrongdoings still made off with $350 million dollars. In 1999, Columbia/HCA just simply changed their name back to HCA, Inc. and went about business as usual

HCA also admitted fraudulently billing Medicare and other health programs by inflating the seriousness of diagnoses and to giving doctors partnerships in company hospitals as a kickback for the doctors referring patients to HCA. They filed false cost reports, fraudulently billing Medicare for home health care workers, and paid kickbacks in the sale of home health agencies and to doctors to refer patients. In addition, they gave doctors “loans” never intending to be repaid, free rent, free office furniture, and free drugs from hospital pharmacies.

2000 and 2002, Columbia/HCA pleaded guilty to 14 felonies.

In late 2002, HCA agreed to pay the U.S. government $631 million, plus interest, and pay $17.5 million to state Medicaid agencies, in addition to $250 million paid up to that point to resolve outstanding Medicare expense claims. In all, civil law suits cost HCA more than $2 billion to settle, by far the largest fraud settlement in US history.

All of these crimes appear to be aimed at making more money from each patient as possible. Apply this to birth and suddenly the reason for a 33% cesarean rate becomes clear. They have no interest in a simple, intervention free birth but have such a huge interest in interventions that they are willing to risk a $2 billion fine as just a small cost of doing business.

Fact #4- Hospitals Make More Money Off of Birth Than any Other Condition

They have twice as much money coming in from each c-section birth than each natural vaginal childbirth, some employer based health plans give doctors an extra bonus of up a $750 per C-section.

This is a scary thought. We are putting our faith and trust into a system that is not working for us but rather for themselves. This is why you need to analyze for yourself everything that these doctors tell you. They can be crucial in spotting and helping with severe issues, but they also have a terrible record of inflating very minor differences into surgery requiring problems.

Most midwives on the other hand have nothing to gain from advising an intervention, their only motivation would be the wellbeing of the mother and child. This is a crucial separation of interests; it is never good to have the person with the most to benefit from a bad outcome as an advisor.

Hospitals most profitable service is birth; they’re charging a fortune but are delivering poor service. If they were a restaurant chain they would have gone out of business years ago.

But they are a multi-billion dollar business and they have something very powerful on their side: billions of dollars, enough to hire the most expensive cut throat financial consultants there are, people sitting at desks doing nothing but figuring out how they can make the hospitals more money!

They have the ability to manipulate using the oldest tactic in the book, by feeding off of peoples fear. They do this by creating the illusion of danger, they tell us that for one reason or another our bodies are broken but we are in luck because they are there to offer the solution to it, and one they get paid for.

We Choose Natural Childbirth Without Fear

It is the most natural thing in the world for us to have fear about birth. It is something that is huge! We’ve never done it before, it sounds impossible that our bodies would be able to pass another human through them. And then the pain, all the pain we’ve heard about, the anguish the horror stories, and then there are the movie scenes that all tell us that birth is scary and painful! Women are scared to death of giving birth.

And that is why WE are here!

We Share Our Natural Childbirths because…

If We Don’t Tell Women the Truth about Natural Childbirth Then They’ll Never Know!

“Pregnancy is Not a Condition and Birth is Not an Emergency”

I and many other women know this to be true! We know how profound, amazing, empowering, beautiful and completely encompassed in love natural childbirth can be! It is so powerful I feel like it has changed me right down to the core, it has awoken me to this powerful woman that I always thought that I could be but that I now know that I am.

I choose natural childbirth because I want to pass on to my daughter that she too is strong, and to lead by example that when you are faced with the unknown the answer is never FEAR, it is always to trust and believe in yourself.

Is A Home Childbirth Right For You?

Pregnancy is the time to start asking yourself “the big questions”. A time to look deep within yourself and get in touch with your motherly intuition, so you can make the right decisions for you and your baby.

Your choice of birthing location is an important decision which will affect you, your baby and the quality of your birthing experience overall.

I encourage you to investigate all the options available to you including hospital birth, birthing centers and giving birth at home.

In this article I will talk about the benefits and considerations of home childbirth, because that is what I am passionate about.

I’m a big advocate of home childbirth because that is how my mother gave birth to me, and how I gave birth to my daughter.

Birth Is Your Baby’s First Taste of Life

It is important to remember when choosing a birthing location that, as mothers we are not the only person involved in the birth.

Your baby will experience the drama of childbirth even more strongly than you do, which is why it is so important to create a peaceful environment for her to make her journey into this world.

When your baby is born she forms her first impressions of a brand new world. The sights and sounds and feelings are all magnified because she is so small and she experiences everything very vividly.

Before choosing where to give birth to your child, please consider this question…

What If YOU Could Choose Where You Would Be Born?

Close your eyes for a moment and imagine that instead of being a Momma and worrying about all the things that Mommas worry about, that you are your baby getting ready to be born…

When the time comes for you to enter the new world, which would you prefer…

Would you want to be squeezed out into a cold, sterile room, filled with bright lights, loud voices, frenzied movement, beeping machines and masked strangers who poke and prod you before taking you away from your Momma and placing you, all alone, in a distant room beside a dozen other crying infants?

Or, would you rather be born gently, at your own pace, into a serene and peaceful loving environment with dim lights, warm air, soft music, gentle whispers and a Momma who holds you close and tells you everything is going to be OK, then holds you in her arms and rocks you to sleep?

Remember, your birthing space is yours to create. You can chose to surround your baby with love and greet your little traveler with patience, humility and silence.

Your baby will hold that memory in her subconscious for the rest of her life!

Giving Birth At Home And The Effects Of The Birthing Environment On Momma And Baby

When you enter your birthing time you enter an altered state where your senses are heightened and you become extremely in tune with smells, sounds, sights and emotions.

You also tune in to the energy around you. In this sensitive state you absorb the feelings created by the ambience of the space and the other people in the room.

If you sense negative energy this could disrupt your birth because it will take your attention away from doing your job, which is to remain calm and peaceful and allow your body to expand and open.

In a calm and peaceful room surrounded by good people positive feelings will flow around you and carry you through the birth!

Choosing The Place Where You Feel Most Comfortable

The most important thing when having a natural childbirth is the ability to stay calm and relax enough to allow your body to open up and birth your baby.

You should give birth in a place where you feel safe and comfortable baring your soul. A place where you can completely relax and let go of all worries and inhibitions and just “release and open yourself to the birthing energy”

You should feel safe, secure, loved, respected, important, powerful, peaceful and free from any distractions.

Giving birth is a very intimate and personal act. If you wouldn’t feel comfortable making love in a place, then you probably won’t feel comfortable giving birth there either.

Finding the “Purrrfect Place”

A momma cat doesn’t have her kittens in the middle of the open. She prowls around until she finds the perfect spot for her. A place where it is quiet, dim and private where she can tuck herself away and feel safe and comfortable.

Frequently Asked Questions About Giving Birth At Home

Q. Is it safe giving birth at home?

A. If you are a healthy woman who is not considered “high risk” you are a good candidate for a natural home childbirth.

The best way to keep yourself “low risk” is to take excellent care of yourself and your baby throughout your pregnancy and properly prepare yourself for birth.

Thousands of women each year give birth at home with the assistance of midwives, doulas and other natural childbirth professionals.

Consult your doctor or midwife to determine what risk factors you should consider when choosing your birthing location.

Q. Who should be present at my home childbirth?

A. The fewer people at the birth, the better…

Giving birth at home is not really a spectator sport. It is a very intimate and personal act. To give birth peacefully you must be able to connect with your inner self, sink deeply into peace and relaxation, release all inhibitions and flow harmoniously with the energy of the birth.

Only positive people allowed

You don’t want anyone present at your birth who causes you to feel uncomfortable and afraid to be yourself, or who feels uncomfortable themselves with what is happening.

Only allow people to attend your birth whose energy matches your own. People who lift you up just by being around them. People you know you can count on.

They must be able to practice patience, trust, respect and have confidence in you and your body’s ability to give birth, and be able to remain calm and silent.

Some women chose to have only the Dad and a midwife present at their birth. If you feel comfortable doing so, you may also wish to also invite your Mom, best friend or doula for emotional support.

Finding The Perfect Midwife or Doula

When choosing a midwife or doula to attend your birth it is best to find someone whom you share a connection with. Her birthing philosophies should align with yours and there should be an equal amount of trust and respect between you.

Discuss your birthing plan with your midwife and what role you would like them to fill. They are there to support you… to “Mother the Mother”… and to hold the birthing space sacred.

When choosing a midwife make sure she has all of the proper certifications, has a record of attending many successful births and can provide glowing references from her past clients.

Q. What if a complication occurs during home childbirth?

A. The primary focus of natural home childbirth is preventing complications from happening through education and preparation during pregnancy.

In the case that it becomes necessary to intervene your midwife should be well equipped to help you. Make sure beforehand that she carries all the medication and tools needed in case of an emergency.

You should also have on-hand the address, phone number and quickest route to the nearest hospital, so that you are always prepared in case a transfer becomes necessary.

It is important not to dwell on negative possibilities because it makes it hard to relax and give birth. If you have taken all the necessary precautions you can put those thoughts out of your mind, knowing that everything will be taken care of in case it becomes necessary.

Home Childbirth Tips – Creating Your Place of Comfort

When designing your birthing space you want to create an environment that you would feel comfortable making love in. Imagine the intimacy in detail.

The low lights, soft music, privacy…

Surround yourself in comfort.

What brings you peace and calm? Candles? Lavender? Aromatherapy? Do you have a favorite flower? Color? What music calms you? What’s your favorite scent?

If you are having a water birth what would you like to add to the water? Oils, herbs? Etc….

Make sure there is nothing that could potentially distract you. Cover all of the clocks and surround yourself in peace.

Your only focus should be on beautifully and peacefully flowing with your body and the energy of the birth to bring your baby into life.

Why Andy And I Chose To Have A Natural Home Childbirth

After touring hospitals and birthing centers I felt that the place I would best be able to relax and feel comfortable was my own home. At home I knew that my baby would be delivered into a loving environment because I could create that sort of environment.

When the time came I surrounded myself with all the things that made me peaceful and reminded me of how capable and powerful I was…

The room smelled of lavender and firelight danced off the walls. I immersed myself into a pool of warm water and rose petals kissed my skin. The gentle flicker of candles soothed me and the tapestry on the wall showed a proud woman which made me feel strong and powerful too.

The few people in attendance practiced silent patience and trusted me and my body. Their energy was calm and peaceful and I felt loved, supported and respected.

There were no distractions to prevent me from giving my baby a gentle and loving birth.

“My body knew exactly what to do, and I followed it’s lead”

The first thing I did was shed my clothes. I felt it easier to connect with my body without the barrier of clothes, and I felt no judgment because of that.

I birthed in any position that felt right. I walked around, squatted, sat on my birthing ball, took a bath and even meditated. I ate and drank when I felt like it which really helped to keep my energy up.

And when I felt like it was time to push that’s what I did. My baby came into life very naturally and gracefully. Andy gently and lovingly placed her in my arms and there she stayed…

“She was home.”
