<description>I have just come across your site and this article. I would like to say how refreshing and reassuring it is to read. Thank you. More and more women need to understand the simplistic importance of all of this. To remember that childbirth is a natural event- not one we see on one born every minute and such tv programmes. I live in England and I think possibly we are a few steps behind the frantic pace of the U.S, however it will not be long before we catch up from how I can see things going here. I feel so passionate about this and have been trying to help and educate ( god that sounds patronising) my friends over the years on taking back the control and believing in themselves and their babies. Trust, trust trust. But so many can&#039;t completely. We have been brainwashed for so long.
I am 37 weeks with my 5th baby and have had 3 natural home births and 1 natural hospital birth. I have been lucky enough to have had amazing midwives and unlucky enough this pregnancy to encounter patronising, fearful and controlling doctors telling me I am high risk due to my age, size of first baby( 18 years ago) and various other readons(excuses). The range and quality of care varies enormously but ultimately it is only us that can make our birth the experience we choose.
Sorry for this long long comment but thank you for the love and truth you have shown in your writing. As you can see this subject is very important to me as I know it is for you.
You brought tears to my eyes when I read your article on the truth of hospital births and also what a natural birth means to your baby. But for opposite reasons obviously. How can the same event be experienced so differently.
Once again thank you and I would love to hear your thoughts anytime.
