Hi there,
I just found your website. I am pregnant (#2) and my first birth, while natural and had good results, left much to be desired. I live in France and information like you are sharing here is very difficult to find.

I have met with about 5 different midwives (there aren't many that speak English) and I have asked them about using breath for birth. I have yet to encounter one who believes breath is that vital for birth. They have all said that naturally, women just know how to do it.

Well, I am here to tell you that I did not know how to do it and it took more than 3 hours to "push" my little Sabine out and I actually couldn't do it and the midwife used the suction cup thing to finally get her out.

And - the truth is, the PROCESS was traumatic. I did not have an episiodomy nor did I tear at all. In fact, I was feeling fab after the birth and ready to go home shortly after the birth. But here in France, three or four days is really standard and they don't really feel comfortable with you going home before that. Luckily, I was able to escape within a day! But, it was AFTER the birth - when I had time to process what happened, that I had a total and complete break-down.

I cried and cried and cried and grieved how the birth went and how it could have gone if I had only known the types of information that you are sharing here. Why didn't I? Well, my midwife insisted that I NOT become informed and have "my own" experience and also that he would help me during the birth. Ha ha, the only guidance I got was "push" ... sadly, I had no idea how and my face turned purple as you mention in your video and that is because I was scared and didn't know HOW to do anything.

I will say this, giving birth is NOT intuitive (or at least not for me, and I feel very connected and in touch with my body) and so, I will be watching each and everyone of your videos in the coming weeks.

Finally, since I live in France, it is difficult to find classes or workshops like in the states aso, these videos are incredibly vital and precious to us living abroad. THANK YOU!!!

[...] You can actually control the amount of intensity that is experienced through learning how to move it through with your breathing. If you make the mistake of holding or breath or not breathing fully then your body has a hard time continuing on with it’s job because it is being restricted and deprived of essential oxygen. And that is when pain comes in to the picture, because again your body is telling you, “don’t do that.” Don’t constrict your breath, just let it flow. Here is a video with some tips on how to breathe effectively. It starts out a little rocky so I recommend starting around 4:00 http://mynaturalchildbirth.org/natural-childbirth-breathe-your-baby-out/ [...]
